The Junior Tennis & Squash Ladders show the rankings of our juniors in the club. They are a great way to play lots of matches.
Explanation of How Ladders Work...
1. Ladders Show the rankings of our juniors in the club from No.1 down.
2. They are located on outside noticeboards at the clubhouse
3. A player ranked 1-10 may challenge up 3 places. Players ranked 11+ may challenge up 5 places.
4. A player once a year may make a wild card challenge and can challenge anyone on the ladder. For example if you're near the bottom of the ladder you can challenge the no.1 player, if you win you're no.1 in the club!!!
5. The challenger must contact the opponent to arrange the match.
The winner of a challenge must write the result on the challenge sheet in the outside cabinet(please just write if you won in 2 sets or 3 sets and not the score).
6. A losing challenger may not re-challenge the same person within 14 days after losing.
7. Apart from injury, sickness or away the challenge must be played within 2 weeks of the phone call, otherwise the opponent may get a walkover and swap positions on the ladder.
Format of a challenge match:
All age groups, the best of 3 sets, tie break to apply in all sets.
If I'm not on Ladder how do I join the ladder?
Please put your name down on the sheet provided in the outside cabinet if you wish to join the ladder.
We as coaches always look at the ladders to see what juniors are playing lots of matches and not so much the order of the ladders, not only on does it give the juniors a higher chance of playing league or friendly league but also the chance of moving up levels in coaching groups.
For Tennis there will also be round robins set up for the end of the month to give the juniors another way of playing matches. This is different to the ladders in that they are in a group and play all the people in a group of a period of a few months. We might look to set this up in squash also.
The Tennis & Squash Prizes are as follows:
1. 10 Euro Voucher for Grandstand Sports each month for the Boy and Girl that play the most challenge matches in the month. (Minimum of 2 matches need to be played)
2. If you play at least 1 challenge match in the month you are entered into a hat for a spot prize of a tennis/squash grip
3. Overall prizes for the year for the boy and girl who have moved up the most places in the year on the ladder and for the girl and boy who have played the most challenges in the year.
The Overall prizes will be given out at the Junior Squash Championships in May and the Junior Tennis Championships in August 2011.
